A Chicago born Native, Jackie Lopez (Singer/Songwriter), was influenced by music at an early age. She began performing as a “Selena” impersonator at the age of 9. In the coming years, she continued to perform at several local Chicago festivals, and TV Stations. During her high school years: she was in the show choir, played Varsity Tennis, & worked at McDonalds on the weekends. You would find her constantly writing lyrics on receipt paper to pass time in the drive-thru.

Inspired by her uncle, Johnny Fiasco, she began experimenting with “House” music. She recorded the vocals for one of his tracks, and in early 2001 – her first record was launched – Denver Blue EP.

In the coming years, they released several records including: “Salsanova”, “Can You Feel It?”, and “All Right”.

In 2006, life led her to Arizona, where she currently resides. "I live, eat, and breathe music! It takes me to that magical place, a place which words cannot describe. My only wish is to share that that feeling with those who listen to my music. God blessed me with this instrument & I plan on using it to spread love, peace, hope, & faith - in love & each other....

INTERVIEW

Who/what did you want to be when you were a child?  I wanted to be the next Selena.  What are your current aspirations?  My goals for 2010:

- Start performing around the valley

- Record some original material

- And last but not least continue growing my fan base on YouTube. My fans out there really keep me going, they rock!  Any upcoming projects?  Not at the moment, but you never know what lies around the corner.  Describe your music. I don't have any original material recorded yet, so it's tough to describe my "type" of music. I guess you could call it "ACOUSTIC/INDIE" for now. Perhaps it will sound something like Dave Matthews meets Coldplay, seasoned with some Justin Vernon, Matthew Santos, Norah Jones, Citizen Cope & Sade, with a dash of Frank Sinatra & Bob Marley! Yeahhhh, that sounds good.  What/Who inspires you? LIFE inspires me.  When/how did you start singing/music?  My 2nd grade music teacher discovered me. I distinctly remember her saying "Where have you been hiding that voice?" after I auditioned for a Christmas solo.  What/where was your first performance? Can you describe it?  Well, let's just say I got the solo that year, lol. I sang the first verse to "Christmas Time Is Here". I'll never forget the applause I received that day. I knew that is where I belonged. =)  Your motto?  Be grateful for every breathe you take & all the blessings that have been placed in your path. If you constantly live in this state of mind you will find that most of life's troubles will suddenly become much much smaller. If you choose to open your eyes, life will unveil it's beauty to you.  Your favorite object?  Oh, that's a tough one. It's a tie between my iPhone & my guitar.  Describe your style.  My fashion varies almost as much as my musical tastes. I'm pretty big on streetwear, you know rockin' my colorful kicks & all. But then I have those days that I want to feel ultra-feminine & bust out a skirt with tights and a pair of Mary Janes.  Your biggest fashion crime?  I don't own ONE pair of pumps. I can't seem to find any that fit my skinny narrow feet. My feet pop right out. Sad panda :(  Who would you like to thank?  My family & friends who continue to support me on this musical journey. I'd really like to thank my amazing boyfriend, Brandon, for believing in & pushing me to follow my dreams day in & out. He's the reason I picked up a guitar. LOVE HIM!
